Giant Eagle wants to make exploring and shopping in their stores fun for families and students. The grocery store chain sponsors three programs aimed at kids – the Eagles Nest, Treat Cards, and Be a Smart Shopper field trips.
Starting with the Eagles Nest Child Care, children ages 3 through 9 can play with engaging and educational books, toys, movies, and video games. A qualified professional will watch your children while you freely shop the store at your leisure.
To learn more about the program and find out if your local Giant Eagle has an Eagle’s Nest Child Center check out https://www.gianteagle.com/Grocery-Store/Eagles-Nest-Child-Care/.
Treat Cards allow kids ages 10 and under to choose between a piece of fruit from the produce display, a slice of cheese from the deli, or a cookie from the bakery – all for free. All you need is a Treat Card, which can be purchased for $1.00. The purchase of the Treat Cards benefits local children’s hospitals. One hundred percent of the proceeds will go toward helping children that need care.

Giant Eagle also welcomes teachers, camp leaders, students, and families into the store for a free interactive adventure. While exploring the store with a knowledgeable field trip leader, students will become familiar with the different food groups, healthy portion sizes, what makes a balanced meal, and how to Be a Smart Shopper!
The material covered is appropriate for students in grades PreK-6th grade. The minimum number of students needed to reserve a field trip is seven. To learn more about the Be a Smart Shopper field trip program check out the Giant Eagle Program at Field Trip Factory .
We’ll see you (and the kids) at Giant Eagle!
